My all time favorite for the past 15 years has been Alma 5:16

"....Can you imagine to yourselves that ye hear the voice of the Lord, saying unto you, in that day: Come unto me ye blessed, for behold, your works have been the works of righteousness upon the face of the earth?"

I love this scripture. I think sometimes we live our lives on guilt and not according to the covenants we have made. I have found that when I see the big picture, seeing the Lord saying "Come unto me", I act according to righteousness and love for my Heavenly Father instead of guilt.

Isn't the gospel awesome! I love it!

President Benson taught: “The Book of Mormon … was written for our day. The Nephites never had the book; neither did the Lamanites of ancient times. It was meant for us. … Each of the major writers of the Book of Mormon testified that he wrote for future generations. … If they saw our day and chose those things which would be of greatest worth to us, is not that how we should study the Book of Mormon? We should constantly ask ourselves, ‘Why did the Lord inspire Mormon (or Moroni or Alma) to include that in his record? What lesson can I learn from that to help me live in this day and age?’ ” (in Conference Report, Oct. 1986, 5; or Ensign, Nov. 1986, page 6).

This week in Primary, we will introduce a "Primary Blog" of sorts. The Primary bulletin board will be used for the children to post their own thoughts and drawings about what they are learning as they read (or hear) the Book of Mormon. Please encourage them to write or draw about the things they are learning during the week. This is a great opportunity for us to connect gospel learning at home and at church.

We love Alma 7:27

And now, may the peace of God rest upon you, and upon your houses and lands, and upon your flocks and herds, and all that you possess, your women and your children, according to your faith and your good works, from this time forth and forever. And thus I have spoken. Amen.

Don't we all want that blessing? It is for everyone, how can we not be successful if the even our God is resting upon everything we do and all we need to do is invite Him and live worthy of His spirit to reside. Not that everything will be peachy forever, but we will have His Peace. Which is of value above all else. Our love for our Father shows through as we cling to Him and serve Him.

Okay, I have tried to comment a couple of times this week as challenged by the Bishop. It just hasn't stuck. It has been a good week where the overlay of the church programs have come together like I thought they would. Sunday we were learning from the Prophet Joseph Smith about Baptism and the Holy Spirit witnessing to us. In Alma 5:46 Alma was also teaching us on the Holy Spirit witnessing to us about the truthfullness of the gospel. Last night at RS scripture study, we learned of the differences between Belief, Faith, and Knowledge. We can Belief something to be true, but by exercizing our Faith and having a witness from the Holy Ghost we can come to a knowlege of these things to be true. He is a great companion to have and rely on.

as with everything we are behind in our reading we just got done with mosiah tonight. I am so excited to get into alma after brother davenports class last week. our family has enjoyed doing this program. Jared askes at least 5 times a day what chapter are we on. And even tells our carpool about reading scriptures.

Neal A Maxwell said in regards to the Savior taking on our infirmities (Alma 7), "The Savior knows what it's like to die from cancer." That was very profound for me, coming from him and knowing his history.

I have a note in my scriptures next to Alma 7:23-25 to remind me about one of my lessons of life. The scouts attended a Fall Camporee where Kodi cut his hand while working on a merit badge project. I distinctly remember our family prayer before they left, and asking the Lord to watch over them while they were gone and to provide whatever blessings they might stand in need of during their activity. Tim Storey proved to be one of those blessings. Tim tended to Kodi’s wound at camp and then sent him with Chad to go get stitches. Upon returning, Kodi had a towel, shirt, and pants that were stained. After some work, I got the stains out of the clothes, but the towel was a lost cause.

A few days later, I happened to read these verses:

“And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.
And see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works.
And may the Lord bless you, and keep your garments spotless, that ye may at last be brought to sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the holy prophets who have been ever since the world began, having your garments spotless even as their garments are spotless, in the kingdom of heaven to go no more out” (Alma 7:23-25).

I immediately thought of that Fall Camporee. We had a family prayer to ask for blessings before they left. Blessings came and we thanked our Heavenly Father for them.

I also thought of that towel and the stains I had given up on trying to remove. I am grateful that the Savior doesn’t give up on us, that He provided the Atonement to remove our stains and thereby allows us to make our garments spotless once again.
