I usually comment on what my children have learned from reading these verses. But tonight I would like to express some of my feelings on capter 28.
I am afraid. I am afraid for my friends who are good people, who go to church and live their faiths, but do not have the truths that we have. Sydney asked me what would happen to her friends who did not belong to our church. I didn't have an absolute answer for her. Any words of wisdom would be helpful.
I was also afraid because of verse 24. " therefore, wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion". When we start to think that we are " fine", we are doing what is right and do not need to work harder....then WO! I find myself at ease alot...living day by day and not thinking about what I need to do better.
I did find peace in verse 30. Heavenly Father teaches us line upon line, precept upon precept. As we learn the little things and " hearken" and accept them, then He can give us more wisdom. Just like the song, " I am a child of God,and so my needs are great. Help me to understand His words, befrore it grows too late." I know that I am still a child, and am still learning the little things. I am grateful to a wonderful ward family who helps me learn. I am grateful for the Book of Mormon and for the truths we have in them. I am grateful for those who have lived before us, whom we read about, and for their examples that we are learning from.
I guess this is my testimony, since I didn't get up in church today. I gladly bear it in Jesus Name, Amen.

I loved sister Nai's comments. With regards to Syndney's inquiry I think you have a wonderful opportunity to teach her two wonderful gospel principles. One, the importance of sharing the gospel with our friends. By living the gospel so others ask us why we are so happy. By overcoming our fear to ask others if they want to know about the gospel. The second principle of how just our Heavenly Father really is, that is if we don't get an opportunity to hear the gospel on this earth then we will have the opportunity to learn in the spirit world. The gospel is perfect.

I also can relate to the ease of zion. It is really easy to sit back and think all is well in zion. I find myself thinking a lot about the Hymn "Rise up O Men of God". We have all been admonished to work a little harder and do a little better. I am definitely grateful we have the gospel and the opportunity to serve. Can you imagine what we would be like without callings? Would we do anything at all for others?

Thank you for your comments Sister Nai and El conquistador :)

When I was reading this week it really struck me where we put our priorties in life. Do we put God before our material things in life? Many times I find myself so protective of an object in life and then I remember I can't take it to heaven with me. But I can take my knowledge, memories and my love for the Savior with me at all times.

Earlier this week I was discussing schedules and post-high school plans with my oldest two gentlemen. It is exciting to dream with them about what their future lives will be like. My mother heart prays that they will make good choices all of their lives, and that they will find true happiness. Then, when I was re-reading Jacob 2 today, I realized that verses 19 and 20 have wonderful advice for my sons:

"But before ye seek for riches, seek ye for the kingdom of God.
And after ye have obtained a hope in Christ ye shall obtain riches, if ye seek them; and ye will seek them for the intent to do good—to clothe the naked, and to feed the hungry, and to liberate the captive, and administer relief to the sick and the afflicted."
