I can honestly say the reading the Book of Mormon as a ward has been a great motivator. This time through things have been much easier for all to understand. We so love the helpful ideas for the children. All 3 of my boys enjoy that the scriptures are coming to life for them. It is great they look foward to scripture study each night.
Brother Herman here. Hi to all of you. I stumbled on this surfing blog links from my sister's page.
What a neat idea! I know for many of us busy parents, (wherever in the world you are) we don't have many chances for in-person gospel discussions...what a neat opportunity to share and learn from each other outside of an more formal setting.
Everytime when I read the Allegory of the Olive Tree, I always try to find something that I can learn from it. This time I was thinking of the laws and ordinances of the gospel. The peace I have when I live these. Everyday when I learn more about the gospel it brings me just happiness. Another thing is He never gave up. If he doesn't give up on me, I want to try my hardest to be a better person so I can stand at the last day and be blessed.
I am grateful for this experiment. Tuesday night when I returned from the campus lockdown, I walked into our home and found all of my gentlemen gathered together reading our nightly chapter. This simple moment was a comfort and a blessing to me.
As we help our families to establish righteous practices, those practices will remain with them. I know the influence of studying the scriptures together daily will continue to be felt in the lives of my children long after this ward experiment has ended -- just as the words of the prophets in the Book of Mormon continue to influence our lives today.
I love Enos! What a testimony builder for me. He prayed all day long and into the night. He was so persistent in being forgiven. The Lord forgave him but what I really admired about Enos is that he knew that God could not lie so he was released from his guilt. So many times I know the Lord has forgiven me but the only obstacle is my level of faith and having enough faith to remember it no more.
