I beat you sister Grimm :) Yes I know I am late. But I am also a week ahead.

I am always facinated with the storey of Korihor. How the people of that day couldn't see right through him. Then I look at our world today and see all of the Korihors that lead us astray. I think the biggest Korihor of our day is pornography. It is so destructive but it starts with a small tempatation and then leads to the total destruction of our testimonies.

What Korihors have you all noticed? Or should I say Sister Grimm and Sister Storey what Korihors have you all noticed? :)

I didn't know we were racing, Bishop. :)

You bring up an interesting question. Why were the people so willing to follow Korihor? More importantly, how can we guard ourselves against being led astray?

As I read this story, I kept thinking that pride and selfishness were at the heart of Korihor's decisions. After he is struck dumb, he is quick to blame Satan for his actions, claiming that he had been deceived. But there are never leaders without followers. Korihor chose to follow Satan.

We are blessed to have the Holy Spirit to guide us, and to have the power of discernment. These blessings are predicated on our own obedience to the laws of the gospel. I think it's interesting that this week's reading also brings us to Alma 32:27 and the focus of our ward reading -- an experiment on the word. If you put Korihor's arguments and logic to the test, they come up short. We can safeguard ourselves and our families against the Korihor's of today as we experiment on the word of God and choose to follow Him in living the gospel.
