I am touched by the examples of women recorded in Alma 19.
Lamoni’s wife, the Lamanite queen, had incredible faith. When others thought her husband was dead, the queen remembered Ammon and correctly believed that he had the wisdom and power needed. Then, trusting in Ammon’s words, she watched over her husband, received her own witness, and was the first of the Lamanites to bear testimony to their people. In verse 11 we read Ammon’s words to her, “Blessed are thou because of thy exceeding faith; I say unto thee, woman, there has not been such great faith among all the people of the Nephites.”
In this same chapter, we read about Abish. This beautiful woman gained a testimony through a vision of her father. She held fast to her testimony in faith for many years, though she was surrounded by unbelievers. Then sensing the timing was right, she tried to serve her fellow Lamanites by bringing them to the scene where the king and queen and their servants had been overcome by the spirit. She wanted all of her people to share in her faith.
It is wonderful to read about these righteous women as we near Mother’s Day! They are great examples for the women of the church.
I just love reading the comments on this blog. Really loved Sister Grimm's comments. I was reading the scriptures and answering and thinking of the question the YW suggested and the main thing I was thinking was how can I be a better missionary. I love the gospel and I want people to know of the plan of salvation, but it just hard to take the first step sometimes. I always love that saying 'Every member is a Missionary.' I love to read the scriptures because a lot of times the answers are there. The Gospel is So True!
This weeks reading was incredible. What great examples of faith and dedication to the Lord. The power of service is evident and how service will lead into the greatest servcie we can offer, missionary work.
